Content Creation Apps and Hacks

If there’s one universal skill every social media manager has in common, it’s being scrappy. The pace of social media can be relentlessly quick, often requiring same-day content creation.

Plus, things are very different from a few years ago, where simply posting pretty photos of your product was enough to grab attention. Today, it takes meticulous steps of crafting compelling copy, eye-catching video, and vibrant graphics to stop people from scrolling past your post.

So how do you make the process a little easier? You keep a carefully curated list of apps handy to help.

Here are a few tricks you can accomplish with apps (and a few websites).

Add Animation to Your Instagram Stories

Mojo is one of my all-time favorite apps. I like to think of this app as adding a little sparkle to your Instagram Stories. It has hundreds of animated templates to add interesting transitions and moving text. The paid Pro account is absolutely worth it if you’re regularly creating stories content.

Finding Trending Audio for TikTok & Reels

While I do think it’s necessary to actually spend time scrolling TikTok for trends, sometimes you’re on a time crunch. Here are a few resources to bookmark for when you need to find some trending audio a little faster:

Create Stop-Motion Videos

Stop motion videos feel hypnotic to watch but intimidating to actually create. The Life Lapse app has plenty of tutorials to get you started and it honestly feels like it holds your hand through the process of creating a scroll-stopping video.

A Video App That Does it All

If you can’t be on your laptop to edit, there are some seriously powerful apps that can help you make impressive edits like adding your brand font text and splicing clips together with smooth as butter transitions. Two of my favorites: InShot and VN.

Stock Photos That Don’t Suck

The usual suspects Pexels and Unsplash are really great for the occasional need, but sometimes you need something a little more curated.

Stock Video That Doesn’t Suck

Video gets better engagement across most social channels, so it’s nice to have a couple of stock options bookmarked. I love Social Motion Packs for Instagram Stories content, but if you need something free, Pexels is great, too!

Filters to Add a Little Mood to Your Videos

A well-applied video filter can make you feel like a cinematographer. I usually turn it down a bit to keep things looking a bit more natural and keep the quality high. A few of my favorite apps for adding a filter to video are Tezza, Filmm, VSCO.
